The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) was founded in 1953. Member schools compete in many sports including Football, Baseball and Men's and Women's Basketball. Coach Jim Valvano led the NC State Wolfpack to the NCAA Men's Basketball championship in 1983. In 1993, Coach Valvano died from cancer. Each year, The Jimmy V Basketball Classic tournament is held in his honor to raise money for cancer research. |
